Devlog #32 - Shroomers Travel Fast
Hello Talenters!
Today we’ll cover some pretty exciting changes to the core gameplay loop of Talented, and show off a new addition to the game.
As mentioned in the last Devlog, we really wanted to improve the pace of the early game and make it more interesting for players, with little downtime each night. Below are all the changes being made to the core loop.
Core loop changes:
- Reduced initial night length to 30 seconds (down from 60). Nights will still get increasingly longer.
- Increased base enemy spawn rate by 5%
- Increased maximum enemies per wave by 1
- XP gain increased by 25% (to offset for the enemies lost by shortened days)
- Speed Up bonus increased from 3% to 4%
- Enemy Health Up bonus increased from 25% to 50
Here’s an example of what the first day will now look like!
Every run will now feel more engaging, and put more emphasis on health and resource management.
Enemy changes:
We’ve also categorised the enemies into difficulty groups: easy, medium and hard. You will now be guaranteed the following:
- On Night 2 an easy enemy will appear
- On Night 5 an easy enemy will appear
- On Night 10 a medium enemy will appear
- On Night 15 a hard enemy will appear
Easy enemies:
- Monches
- Lorges
- Crawleys
Medium enemies:
- Busters
- Mega Blobs
- Skelebobs
Hard enemies:
- Gulfs
- Queens
Various medium difficulty enemies' base health increased. E.g Busters now have 13 health, up from 9.
Various high difficulty enemies’ base health increased. E.g.Gulfs now have 23 health, up from 9.
Introducing the Smushroom!
This new enemy will be coming soon to the game, entering in as a medium difficulty enemy. The adorable Smushrooms will fall asleep in the middle of the lane, buffing the other enemies and increasing their speed by 50%.
They will be out of range for default basic attacks (when you have not purchased any talents or abilities to increase this) with the exception of the Summoner. Investing your talent points into longer range abilities will be even more important!
All of these changes will be coming soon in the next update. If you want to keep up with development, and discuss strategies then head over to our discord!
