Devlog #30 - The Complete Package
Greetings Talentees!
The final major feature of update 0.8 is being boxed up and we can't wait to hear what you think about everything we've stuffed in there! Before I jump into it, let's run over a couple of quality of life features balance changes we've added first.
Speedy Slow Down!
As requested the Speed Down hotkey (<) now reduces the speed down to 1x no matter what speed the game was running at before. This should allow you to slam the breaks if you've accidentally pushed the speed too high and the enemies are flocking in.
More Damage!
We've changed the Damage Up talent back to a common talent which will make it easier to access consistently in all runs. This is particularly important for Talent Packages - which we will get into soon as there will be a ton more Rare (blue) talents floating around.
Rewarding Mastery!
Over the next few updates we'll be adding a ton of new unlockable as rewards for levelling up each class so we've rebalanced the class levelling to require significantly more experience. We don't want it to turn into a painful grind though, so we've TRIPLED the bonus experience granted by playing on higher mastery levels.
If you're up to the challenge you should see some huge pay-outs.
And now the main event..
Last update we introduced the concept of a Talent Package - a group of talents that synergise together to boost your power or offer some utility in your runs. We were really happy with how these turned out and we've decided to make them a core part of how Talented's progression works. So here goes nothing:-
- Talent Packages can now be unlocked by increasing your class level on each class.
- At levels 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14 you'll have the chance to choose between up to 3 different packages to unlock.
- Packages will be randomly chosen at the start of each run from the ones you have unlocked.
- You'll get to see what Packages are chosen before you start the run. (This means you'll be able to choose Core Talents that synergise with the Talent Packages coming up)
These Talent Packages will be added onto the "Standard Package" for each class. The Standard Package contains most of the Talents you're used to seeing (e.g. Attack Speed Up, Blast Powder, D6).
At levels 2 and 3 you'll only have one additional Talent Package added to your Standard Package. As you gain more class levels you'll unlock additional Talent Package Slots, up to a maximum of 4 slots at level 12.
Some of these packages will have crazy synergies between them. So keep an eye out for runs that have truly insane Talent Package combinations and make sure you boost up the mastery levels when you see them.
We're expecting to add two packages for each of the classes as part of the 0.8 update for testing and feedback. If all goes well each class will have a total of 10 packages each by the time we release the final game!
Each Package has two Rare (blue) Talents and an pair of Ability/Epic talents. Here's a sneak peek into our first Archer Package "Critically Acclaimed".
Keep an eye out for low cooldown abilities and gain access to tons of extra Critical Strike chance!
Never lucky? Nevermind!
And if those didn't look strong enough by themselves - it's time for me to reveal one of the FINAL unlockable Core Talents for Archer:
That's right! If you reach Level 15 on Archer all of this could be yours (and that's just the stuff you know about).
Well, that's plenty for one devlog (I'm almost out of breath!). We'd love to hear any feedback you have on our Discord!
Stay Talented
