Devlog #28 - Choose Your Fighter

Hello Classy Gamers!

You wouldn't believe if I told you how close we are to another update already (so I won't), instead we're here to discuss one of the headline features of the 0.8 update:

New Character Select Screen

We've completely overhauled the way you set up your runs, making information easier to digest and creating room for even more features we have for the future.

Tooltips have been added for the various resources that characters have, which makes explaining some of the new mechanics much easier.

Additionally you can now more easily track your progress on individual characters, letting you more easily show off your masterful achievements. We can't wait to show you what we have been planning for challenges in the future.

Run Setup Rework

Paired with this is our brand new Run Setup panel. When you complete your very first run you will gain access to this menu which makes your builds easy to customise and share.

Note: Traits have now been renamed to "Core Talents" to avoid any confusion with the enemy Elite Trait system.

Core Talents now have clear tooltips including the new Status Effect stubs making it much easier to get a detailed breakdown of what they do. We've also included tooltips for each Mastery Level making that section of the menu far easier to manipulate.

Finally, I'll quickly go over a few of our new Core Talent additions (a few with placeholder icons for now!).

Gifted/Inspiring Knowledge

A trade-off between more power at the start of the run and much needed safety for the Wizard in the resource slot.

Hemomancy/Two By Two

That's right! Two of Talented's classic Epic talents are back as Core Talents for the Summoner. They are both far more useful when you can build around them from the very start of the run, so we think they're better placed here.

We'll leave some of the Core Talents as surprises for the 0.8 release, so that's your lot for now.

Hope you have a great start to the year and stay talented!
