Devlog #22 - Knowledge Is Power


Hello again people who also enjoy randomly generated talent trees and lil’ blobs (too long?) 

Before getting into what we’ve been working on the last couple of weeks, I just want to draw attention to our name change. We’re now TurtleFoxGames on itch.io! 

This Devlog will focus on some new features we’re implementing into the next update, balance changes for every class and a sneak peek at something awesome we’ve been working on. 

Stats panel: 

We’ve made the stats panel easier to access and read in game by changing the location and adding an expand feature. By moving the panel, we’ve created some space for a new mystery feature coming in a later update. Keep an eye out for future Devlogs to learn more about this! 

 

Balance changes:

Balance changes are being implemented not only to make game play fairer, but also to trade some late game power for early game power. This will make the game easier to pick up for new players whilst maintaining challenge for more seasoned Talented Gamers. 

Archer:

  • Shadow Strike: Will now only fire on every other attack.
  • Critical Timing: Now reduces the cooldown of a random ability by 1 second (Instead of 0.5 seconds for all abilities). 
  • Base Knockback Power increased to 0.3 (up from 0.25)
  • Base Crit Chance increased to 4% (up from 2%)

These should help out with the early game and kick start builds that require critical strikes to function. 

Wizard:

  •  Insight: Reduced experience for ability kills to 10% (down from 15%)
  •  Hemomancy: Reduces your maximum MP by 50% (reworked from a flat 10)
    Hemomancy should now be more punishing if you pick it up late-game, especially combined with the lifesteal nerf. It should, however, be a more exciting early game option.
  • Base lifesteal increased to 4% (up from 2%)
  • Knockback Power increased to 0.25 (up from 0.2) 

Warrior:

  • Cooldown Reduction Talents are less likely to appear on the tree.
  • Base Knockback Power increased to 0.35 (up from 0.25)
  • Parry Chance increased to 4% (up from 2%)

Summoner:

  • Helper Size Up HP increase down to 5 (from 10)
  • Helper Size Up Speed Decrease down to 20% (from 25%)
  • Base Lifesteal Chance down to 0% (from 2%)
  • Base Max MP down to 25 (from 40)
  • Base Time Between MP Regeneration down to 6.5 seconds (from 8 seconds)

Bonus Nerf!

  • Abilities can no longer lifesteal.

Packages: 

We’re planning to release four ‘packages’ in the next update. These packages will include three talents and an ability for each class. Each set of talents and the ability will be designed to synergise together and give players more build variety during runs. 

Just for you, here’s a sneak peak of what we’ve got planned for the Wizard’s package - Deep Learning:

Talents:

Untamed Knowledge - On Level Up the Wizard will fire a random ability with no magic point (MP) cost. Directional Abilities will use a random direction during this time

Bracing Knowledge - On Level Up the Wizard will receive 5 Mana Points

Dazzling Knowledge - On Level Up the Wizard’s next three attacks will deal 10 more damage

Ability:

Knowledge is Power - Duplicate all experience gems on the floor and instantly pull them to the Wizard.

Wow looks great, when the game comes out fully I would love to see an infinite mode so I can play this game forever mwahahaha
