Devlog #21 - Into The Unknown
Hello Talented Gamers!
I'm Bri and I'm going to be writing the Talented Devlog going forward! I'm really excited to join the development team and I can't wait to update you with all of the new features we have planned.
Last time we showed you a peek of our talent tree overhaul, including some ‘interesting’ overlapping of talents. You’ll be pleased to know that we’ve now (mostly) solved this issue and are super excited about the new system.
Talent Tree:
We’ve completely overhauled the talent screen for the next update! Our new talent tree will utilise pipe style connectors between talents to give you an overall clearer view. The pipes will (by the time we release them) fill when you purchase talents, highlighting the path you have taken during your run and will hopefully make it easier to see what you’ve bought, and what is still left to buy.
Talents:
The keen eyed among you may have noticed some other stylistic changes from the photos above. The extremely talented Ryue has reworked some of the icons, colours and shapes of our talents. This will hopefully make the rarer ones easier to distinguish in the tree, and we also think they look so much nicer! You can see some of the new icons below.
…What are those purple ones??
Well, the previously orange legendary talents will now be known as epic talents! (and be purple) We have plans for more powerful legendary talents to return in a later update, so keep an eye out for this.
Hovering Talents:
The hover states on purchased talents have also been improved in this update, focusing on making it even easier to see when you’ve bought them.
Lighting and fog:
Fog of war has been added to the talent screen to add more depth and ambience. The lighting in the talent screen will now match the core game.
We hope these two changes will make the talent screen match the rest of the game’s style and make buying talents clearer, whilst maintaining the mystery of what talents are in the distance.
That’s all for this one, but look out for the next log for more information on what else we’re working on bringing to the game!
We’d love to hear from you:
If you have any feedback (positive or otherwise!) about the game or would generally like to stay updated on development feel free to join our discord server!
