Devlog #2 - It Takes Class
Hello Talented Players!
Very cool to see continued interest in the game and gather all of your feedback, please keep it coming! The Discord is the fastest way to get your questions about the game answered but also feel free to comment under the game or below this very post.
This week I'm going to reveal a little about my plans for the Class system.
Classes
Talented will contain a number of different Classes each with their own playstyle, strengths and weaknesses. Classes will have unique talents, skills and traits that can all be combined to create a ton of unique builds. You can level up classes by doing runs as them and as you level up you'll unlock more talents and traits to play around with. The higher levels unlock the crazier talents so you'll need to fully level up a Class to get the most insane build options.
Below are the two Classes I'm planning for the 0.3 release, I'd love to hear your thoughts on these!
Archer
With a focus on basic attacks the Archer will begin with a lot of range and attack speed to help keep enemies at a distance (which is fortunate because the Archer has the lowest base defensive stats in the game).
The Archer's Abilities and Talents are focussed around buffing their basic attacks. Here are a few examples:
[Ability] Rapid Fire - Your next 5 attack have 50% increased attack speed
[Ability] Frosted Arrows - Your next 3 attacks slow enemies by 50%
[Rare Talent] Blast Powder - Your attacks have a 10% chance to explode dealing their attack damage and applying effects to enemies in a small area.
[Legendary Talent] Diamond Arrowheads - Your critical strikes pierce enemies, travelling through them allowing them to strike another foe.
Wizard
This Class is focussed on powerful abilities and rule bending talents. It's probably the closest to what is currently playable in 0.2, but in 0.3 it will be a lot more focussed with less defensive/generic Talents.
The Wizard's Abilities will be high impact and Talents will be focussed on buffing or synergising with abilities. Here are some new examples:
[Ability] Pause Time - Stops all enemy movement and spawning for 3 seconds.
[Ability] Molten Rift - Opens up a molten rift in target direction dealing 3 damage per second to any enemies that walk over it.
[Rare Talent] Insight - Killing enemies with abilities increases Experience gained from them by 10%.
[Legendary Talent] Hemomancy - When you have no remaining MP your Abilities cost HP instead.
I'll be revealing more Classes as development continues, the crazier Classes are still to come, so stay tuned for more info on those.
